| Introduction | Jim Flint lives in West Rutland with his wife Barbara Flint. He grew up in Hebron, NY on a family homestead. Jim graduated from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University in 1981 and moved to Vermont. He received a Masters of Education degree in 1984 from the University of Vermont. Jim's career focused on education, community gardening, and youth development. He worked with the National Gardening Association from 1993 to 2001, serving as GrowLab program coordinator and director of the Youth Garden Grants Program. In 2001, he founded the nonprofit Friends of Burlington Gardens, which in 2005 launched the Vermont Community Garden Network. Jim community gardened for 24 years with his wife Barb and their children, Alison and Jon. He served on the BACG Advisory board from 1992 to 2001, during which time the BACG program doubled in size. The Flints relocated to Craftsbury, VT in 2012 and moved to West Rutland in 2021. Jim currently serves as a consultant working with socially responsible small businesses, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organizations.He is a lifelong gardener with a passion for local history. |
