I've navigated open-heart surgery, a partially-severed Achilles tendon, two ACL repairs, an emergency appendectomy, a traumatic brain injury and back surgery. I have a TON of hands-on experience when it comes to getting ready for, going through and recovering from planned and emergency surgery! I've been a patient, a caregiver and a patient advocate. In short, being prepared made my later experiences significantly easier and my recoveries quicker, stronger and even fun. Take advantage of my experiences, mistakes and insights. I want to empower patients - people. Information is power and preparation is key. Let's change the face of surgery and recovery, together. Here's what I know for sure: We need each other!
