Introduction Growing up in Oyster Bay with woods as my backyard, it is no wonder that I grew up to be an ardent lover of nature and wildlife. Splashing in the creek, exploring every corner of the woods, my days were filled with discovery and adventure. When I was not outdoors, I was voraciously reading nonfiction wildlife/conservation books which fostered my deeply held commitment to wildlife protection. This lifelong passion led me to volunteer for Huntington-Oyster Bay Audubon Society in 2006 and in 2007 I was elected president, a position I hold today. When not volunteering for the Huntington-Oyster Bay Audubon Society, or working my full time job in the corporate world, I love to hike, bird, kayak or do anything that gets me outside and into nature. My favorite animals are predators, grizzly bears are my absolute favorites and I admit to a major fondness for the entire mustelid family!
Interests Hiking, birding, wildlife, volunteering, kayaking, anything outdoors!
Favorite Movies Dances with Wolves, Out of Africa, Amores Peros, Wolf Creek, Crash, Shawshank Redemption, Borat..embarrassing, but Wuthering Heights! Aberdeen, The Devil Came on Horseback. Pray the Devil Back to Hell is an important and moving documentary...
Favorite Music Anything from classic rock to country to alt to the blues to world music but esp. Grateful Dead, Mary Gauthier, Lucinda Williams, CSN, Neil Young, Pink, Kid Rock, Tift Merrit, Waylon Jennings, Karen Grenier, White Stripes, Jimi Hendrix, Hot Tuna, Janis Joplin, Kasey Chambers, Led Zeppelin
Favorite Books The Night of the Grizzlies, Jaguar, The Wolverine Way, In the Shadow of Man, Solo, the story of an African wild dog, The Cry of the Kalahari, A Place in the Woods, The Six Wives of Henry VIII, The Little Prince, and lest you think I am a complete nerd, I do enjoy Stephen King. I also have a thing for true crime stories about serial killers...yes, I am quite gruesome. Kaufman field guides to birds and mammals, Flyaway, by Suzie Gilbert

The prospects for danger here are low, but the prospects for feeling alive are guaranteed. Many people are shadowed most dangerously by beasts of their own imagination. Accept no substitute for real experience, real friends, true love and real bears. Either you set the bar high and keep striving or you create a danger greater than any Griz sneaking up on you: letting real life sneak away.
