| Introduction | Born on the border of New Mexico and Texas, a desert called nowhere, I am a nomad, wandering through the middle of the Americas trying to find my place. I was last in line in a family of five, following behind pride, strength, beauty, and grace, looking from side to side, watching my back. I'd lose my breath and fall behind and reach out and grab a hand and come back up again to safety. Now I am grown. There are no more hands to hold, especially not forever. And so I spend my life sculpting lessons and stories out of objects, learning to forgive those who have sent me on this journey to be alone. |
