| Introduction | I have been a journalist for more than 50 years years and have won more than 87 awards. I started my newspaper career in 1963 as a sports writer with Copley Newspapers. From 1984 to 2009, I was an Executive Editor, Special Sections Editor and Travel Editor with Media News Group. I am Western Chapter immediate past chair of the Society of American Travel Writers. I have been married to the same woman for 48 years. My wife is a retired high school math teacher and department chair. I have two grown children and two granddaughters. |

| Favorite movies | I have many favorite movies, but my all-time favorite is “Casablanca.” I covered the Academy Awards for several Copley newspapers for five years (1969-1973). I love musicals. My favorites are “Singing in the Rain,” “My Fair Lady,” “Sound of Music,” “Chicago,” “American in Paris,” “Showboat” and “Cabaret.” |
| Favorite music | 1950s era Rock ‘N’ Roll and anything else that sounds good to my ear. |
| Favorite books | All the classics. My all-time favorite authors include Charles Dickens, Edgar Allen Poe, Miguel de Cervantes, John Steinbeck and J.D. Salinger. Contemporary authors include Stephen King, the late Vince Flynn, the late Robert B. Parker, Lee Child and Stuart Woods. |
