| Introduction | I have backpacked from the Teton's, the Rockies, the mountians of Georgia to Baxter State Park in Maine, and lots of odd places in between. In the Deserts of the west and in the swamps of the Okefenokee. But for nearly 30 years I have hiked, camped, paddled, backpacked, and trout fished in the Cohutta's. I can't remember not holding a fly rod or wearing a backpack. This area is as fine of a back country as anywhere in the U.S. It's where I cut my backpacking teeth. So I wanted to share my experiences and let others share as well about this special area. I am a light weight backpacker. My gear is worth more than my car, I own multi pieces of everything for no other reson than I visited the damn outfitters store (they don't have to ask for I.D. when I use my credit card) I wonder thru Walmart making backpacking meals out of everything, I waste lots of work hours searching the web for backpacking junk. |
