IntroductionEarning art scholarships and art awards from a young age, Calderon earned a B.F.A. degree from ASU Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. As a bi-lingual Mexican-American artist with a missionary heart, she has traveled through Mexico & Europe. Her awareness of world conditions & spiritual foundations has been augmented by volunteer service. Starting with 1,800 hours of AmeriCorps National Service work in El Paso, Calderon also served two disaster relief missions to Haiti, served the youth at Saint Daniel the Prophet parish in Scottsdale two years, and six years as a Big Sister mentor with BBBS. Calderon served as Art Coordinator/Instructor for Las Artes de Maricopa creating large-scale works of public art (hand-painted tile murals) as service-learning projects for the community. Two years with the Phoenix Fridas collective and after residing 10 years in Phoenix, Calderon transitions to TX. Calderon explores in all art media: printmaking, ceramics, murals, mixed-media, drawing, painting, performance art, both representational and non-representational. Texas certified Art teacher certified, elementary school through twelfth grade.
