| Introduction | My checkered but successful career encompassed stints in journalism, public relations and marketing before I chucked corporate life and joined the Peace Corps in 1991. The adventures -- and my Hello All journal -- began as I embarked on a new career in international development. I lived and worked in Central Europe, East Africa and the Balkans before "testing retirement" for the six months and deciding I mostly liked it.
