| Introduction | Im Vikky and im 32, i live with my husband James and our children Ryan who is 12 and Lilly who is 3 and our pet lizard 'spike'. I used to be a nursery nurse with a great job, me and my James decided to complete our family by having a second child, life couldnt have been better then in October 2006 i gave birth to our little girl Lilly, it was clear from the beginning she had problems as she was born very ill and spent time in SCBU and once home she didnt develop or thrive as our son Ryan had and in September 2008 we were given the devastating news that she had 17q21.31 microdeletion syndrome, which is a very rare genetic condition effecting only 50 people worldwide, this blog is our journey through this condition and beyond the condition, as we all adapt to our new lives on this special journey. |
