| Introduction | Why to register on the GeM portal? Gem "Government eMarketplace" is an initiative started by the central body to promote MSMEs in the country. GeM is an online marketplace where small businesses such as manufacturers and service providers can list their products and services for government tenders. GeM portal registration provides an absolute opportunity for local manufacturers to take its benefits in their respective states and industry. It also prioritises purchases from "Make In India" certified brands under the make in India initiative. Usually, central and state governments are the ones to procure the majority of products from listed brands on the GeM portal through online bidding and tenders. To participate in government procurement bidding, Sellers need to opt for Gem vendor assessment to get their OEM status. Procurement of goods happens based on various factors. Such as direct purchase lowest bidding and L1 comparison as per GFR-149 guidelines. |
