Introduction I have what I consider to be a colourful past career closely linked to design. It started in 1985 when I started my apprenticeship as a finished artist and attended the print college at Fielden Park where I achieved my City & Guilds in print origination and became qualified in 1988. Not one to be complacent I then moved on to accept a job as a lithographic proofer and aged 20 I was qualified to operating proofing presses and was responsible for providing colour proofs and progressives for the printing industry. I followed this path due to my fascination to understand and interact with machinery and the printing process. Learning over a long period of time about colour, registration, quality, paper and the multitude of variables that printing presents. Several years later I was presented with my most difficult challenge as I worked as a number 2 printer learning how to operate a sheet fed Heidelberg 6 colour lithographic printing press with inline coating infra red drying. Over a period of years I progressed to number one printer. I then was employed as a print room manager responsible for quality control, staff and the general day today running of the print room.
