| Introduction | We are two architect students from Bergen School of architecture in Norway, doing our thesis this spring. We are working on the urban development of Sandnes. To develop a city, we think it’s not just enough to build new buildings or open a river. A city is developed not just by economical and physical means, but it is also developed by social processes and people. We want to look at the possibility to extend a part of the University of Stavanger into the city centre of Sandnes, and see how this could have a positive effect on the city development, (or maybe not…). Maybe this could benefit the region as a whole as well? Our starting point is to make our hometown Sandnes, into a city we, ourselves, would love to live in, and hopefully it will inspire people to see this potential for Sandnes!
