| Introduction | Ryan Gogol has taught Italian in NJ public high schools for the last six years, after earning his Master's in Italian Language and Literature, as part of his pedagogical training, at the University of Chicago. The majority of Ryan's years in education have been productively spent in urban school districts and working primarily with socioeconomically disadvantaged students, as well as students from diverse cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds. Ryan and his classes have won several awards from The Italian Teachers Association of New Jersey and Montclair State University for excellence in the Italian language and culture. Recently, Ryan has steered his passion for urban education in a more focused direction, now pursuing his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at Monmouth University. Once there, Ryan initiated a Transformational Leadership Project and dissertation that focus specifically on school leaders' perceptions and approaches in confronting chronic absenteeism in NJ public schools. |

Your people want to make a statue in your honor. What will it be made out of and what victory will it commemorate?
It will be a massive altered book sculpture of my bust, covered in wax, with "100%" carved below, commemorating the achievement under my government of total literacy, high school completion, and participation in some form of post-secondary education.
