| Introduction | I was born in Cali, Colombia. I am a licensed attorney with a degree equivalent to Juris Doctor from the Universidad San Buenaventura of Cali (Colombia, 2002), where I practiced criminal law for 8 years. I worked as a legal advisor for the city government of Cali, a city of around 2 million people. I oversaw high-profile cases related to political corruption for over three years. As a result, I left my country in 2009 and I earned a MA and a Ph.D. degree in Hispanic Studies from the University of Florida in 2012 and 2016. Since 2016 I am Assistant Professor at FLC, and I teach classes in the Borders & Languages program and in the Sociology and Criminology programs. |
