| Introduction | I grew up in the mid-west where I also attended the University of Cincinnati as a Fine Arts Major, concentrating on oil painting as my media. After a few years in college, some life changes and a move to Florida, I later migrated with my new young family to Houston, Texas. In 2000 I made a trip down into Mexico for the first time, not knowing just how much this would change my life and the direction of my art. I began to paint Indigenous people from south of the border, as I was taken by their ethnic qualities, vibrant colors, and ancient heritage. A relationship developed as I produced multiple series of paintings about their legends, traditions and the many immigration/border stories that arose. After several series were produced, it was not long before I realized my passion, and was seriously pursuing my art career based upon this unfolding body of work. |
