| Introduction | I always wanted to be an actress and worked in the theatre until I was 20. Then I ran away to Brighton and got married. We had our first son and moved back to Lancashire, had our daughter and one more son, then started thinking about what career I might like. I began helping in my children's primary school and trained as a teaching assistant. I took this further, trained as a teacher and taught in primary schools for eight years. When my children were old enough, I thought it was time to revisit my creative side and enrolled in a college course about writing for children. It has been one of the best decisions I have made so far. |
