Introduction	Absolute optimism isn't in my nature. I have to work at it. So I thought we could work at it together. I have 4 beautiful daughters. Yes, 4! And 2 incredible grandchildren, one girl and one boy (finally). And they have all taught me more than I've taught them. I'm married to the love of my life, and I know that because he isn't patient; he is stubborn; he likes sports while I like to read; he likes chaos while I like calm; he's flighty while I am steadfast; and I love him through it all. We are opposites, and yet we work. Life is just like that. It takes rain to see a rainbow. Pain to feel healed. Failure to appreciate success. And it is that which gives me hope. An author was first a writer. So I tell myself every day, I'm a writer. And one of these days I'll wake up, having paid my due, having persevered, and be able to say, "I made it. I'm an author."
