| Introduction | Born, raised and schooled in the lake district of Nainital in Uttarakhand I have spent several seasons observing ethereal mist rise from emerald waters of its lakes, or a gentle cottony fog roll down the hills and settle into the vale. I have seen rain-pearls tug on to fuchsia bell-flowers or slip off the spine of maidenhair ferns jutting out of ancient walls overgrown with moss. I have heard the songs of cicadas at night, the barks of deer, and on rare occasions, the deep, rumbling growls of big cats. Immersed in the rich, fictive worlds that Enid Blyton, Ruskin Bond and Jim Corbett have woven, my sensibilities expanded to take in the natural world in all of its splendour. My quest is to contribute as much as I can to nature, culture, and literature! |
