Introduction I woke up one day and thought enough! Having suffered from depression and anxiety for the greatest part of my life I had become best friends with alcohol or anything else really that distracted me from facing my illness. For over 10 years I had convinced myself that I only drank to take the edge off. The truth was alcohol was not just taking the edge off but taking my life away with it. Realising I had a problem I knew I had to do something but I had no idea what. I was consumed with fear that I couldn't do it and it almost seemed easier to drink myself into oblivion. The thing is I have never thought of myself as weak and I wasn't going to give in now. So with that, I decided to go on a journey of discovery and to make a safe space in my life to share this journey. This is my safe spade. I am not a writer as you have probably already realised but this blog is not about big words. It is about the big issues we face when we stand up to addiction. I would love to hear your experiences and maybe we can do this together? Come in and join my safe space.
