About me

Introduction Deborah Wahlstrom, a respected educational administrator, has guided the Mt. Clemens Community School District in Michigan as superintendent since 2012. She took the position at a time when the District had a serious fiscal deficit and needed the assistance of an emergency manager. Deborah Wahlstrom has engaged with the district in a professional, productive manner in driving student achievement gains, reducing the deficit, and maintaining spending appropriate to the allocated budget. As superintendent, Dr. Wahlstrom has emphasized meeting the criteria of the Deficit Elimination Plan and stayed in close contact with the school board president and Michigan Department of Education. She has implemented a repositioning of finances to meet new structural realities, and in the process kept the district on track for recovery. Ms. Wahlstrom has also worked to create a number of effective partnerships that provide students with vital services. For example, the Henry Ford School-based clinic offers students and their families no-cost pediatric medical treatment.
