About me

Introduction We believe young people need and deserve a meaningful voice, connecting them with other teens, to share experiences, explore issues that affect them, and identify their common concerns. We believe that, since towns on the Cape and Islands are isolated from each other, this program extends a sense of community. We believe that the rigorous training necessary to produce publishable personal and reported stories, and making these stories widely available through publishing TWC, is an important and effective way for young people to develop self-awareness and the ability to make thoughtful choices about their lives. We believe that meaningful connection between the individual and the wider community is the basis for nurturing thoughtful, educated persons. TWC is sponsored by the Cape Cod Lighthouse Charter School, but its editorial policies are independent, and do not reflect the policies or opinions of the school. The teens in this program decide the content in group meetings with their editor-mentors. We welcome letters. We need to know what you would like to read about and how you respond to the stories we publish.
