Introduction I am Abraham George, a resident of New Jersey, USA. However, I also spend 6-8 months in a year in India. These days I am engaged in the activities of The George Foundation (TGF), a charitable trust I founded in India. TGF is involved in areas of poverty alleviation, education (www.shantibhavanonline.org), healthcare, empowerment of women, and a free press (www.iijnm.org). You may read about my work on www.tgfworld.org, www.shantibhavanonline.org, www.iijnm.org and the blogs herewith. After spending over 25 years in business (international finance and technology sectors), I decided to sell the companies I had founded and to start a non-profit NGO in South India. Since 1995 we have been doing our social work in Hosur Taluk in Tamil Nadu. I am trying to apply the management lessons I have learnt in business to the non-profit sector in order to achieve maximum results for the funds expended. Our approach to poverty alleviation has been one of creating opportunities for the poor people to permanently overcome poverty and support their families. I have discussed our approach to social entrepreneurship in my book, India Untouched: The Forgotten Face of Rural Poverty, and in my blogs.
