| Introduction | My introduction to the world of disabilities and accessibility was when our daughter was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia, in 1993. Friedreich's is a rare, progressive neuromuscular disorder that affects balance and coordination in various ways. A dedicated group of parents formed a support group to offer information to each other and provide support when issues arose that demanded change. Through this group, many pieces of valuable information have been exchanged. These issues go beyond the Friedreich's Ataxia group and extend to any family touched by age or illness related adaptations. My hope is you will be able to learn from this site and have the tools you need to allow your loved ones to remain in their homes, living life as they choose and being in a safe environment. |
