| Introduction | Robert Beatty is one of the early Theravada Buddhist teachers who brought Insight Meditation and Mindfulness to the West in the 1970s. His teaching approach focuses on meeting students where they are, blending the core principles of Buddhist meditation with Western psychotherapy. Over the years, he has worked with thousands of students, guiding them to incorporate mindfulness and meditation into their daily lives. His teaching style integrates meditation, humor, music, poetry, and movement to help others approach challenges with compassion and presence. Throughout his career, Robert had the opportunity to study with several influential teachers, each contributing to his understanding of meditation and mindfulness. He spent over four decades studying under one teacher, eventually being authorized to teach within the Burmese Buddhist tradition in 1982. He also explored non-dual spirituality, practicing in Burma, where he took novice ordination. His studies continued in India, where he worked with additional teachers who deepened his understanding of Buddhist teachings. |
