| Introduction | About a month ago I was having breakfast with my good friend Lena on the morning of her departure for India, and in the midst of my jealousy it suddenly occurred to me that there really was not much stopping me from joining her. I had money saved, could supposedly take a leave of absence from my job, and had a passport already- so why not? A week later I bought two tickets and had my plan: a week in New York to visit my sister, then on to India and then Thailand. Two months abroad in the world, and here I am. |
