| Introduction | Edgar D. Hopida is an American-born Filipino who converted to Islam in 1998. He is currently the Director of Marketing and Communications at Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Hopida previously served as Communications Director for the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the San Diego Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-San Diego) Director of Public Relations from 2006-2012 and later as their Senior Consultant from 2012-2013. Edgar D. Hopida holds a degree in Sociology from San Diego State University. Hopida’s religious education includes a decade long studying of several classical Islamic texts covering Islamic law and ethics, Islamic legal theory, theology, Sufism (Islamic Mysticism), Hadith (Prophetic Traditions), and the Biography of the Prophet Muhammad with several Muslim scholars and specialists. He performed the hajj (pilgrimage) to Mecca in 2002. He currently resides in Chula Vista, CA with his wife and two daughters." |
