| Introduction | The only child of a railroad worker and his wife, I showed a natural ability to dance early. Since being five years old I performed as a comic dancer in the Los Angeles area. The creativity continued with a talent for the visual arts. Degrees were earned, studios maintained, and galleries were owned as my family relocated across the United States with my corporate husband and three children. A passion for the arts continues in our retirement years: looking at great art whenever I can; dancing three times a week and swimming when I can't be dancing. You probably have guessed it...Spangler Cummings is my professional name. I am Melinda Johnson. Gold Medal winner in backstroke, 2007 and 2010, 25 yd, novice, and Bronze Medal winner in backstroke, 2010, in 50 meter, advanced division, at the California State Senior Games. |
