Introduction I am an environmental engineer living with my family in Silicon Valley in California. After retiring from a 33-year career in water politics, I retrofitted my creekside home with a solar water heater and 36 one hundred-watt solar voltaic panels. These power my home and recharge a Chrysler GEM neighborhood electric vehicle. I grow much of my family’s food in vegetable gardens and vineyards around the house, irrigated for 20 years with water from Coyote Creek. I was educated at San Jose State University and Loyola University. I served 23 years on the Santa Clara Valley Water District Board of Directors, elected to six terms. I later served for eight years as Executive Director of the Silicon Valley Pollution Prevention Center, providing an ongoing mediation forum for executives from government, industry and environmental public benefit corporations to identify ways to protect our water resources from all sources of pollution in the valley. I remain active politically while continuing to closely monitor the activities of the Water District and its delivery of services to the residents and businesses of Silicon Valley.
