| Introduction | Growing up in a Catholic family with 6 siblings, I was taught extremely conservative values. I grew up in Laguna Beach, California where I was home schooled, along with my 3 brothers and 3 sisters, by my mom, who taught us strong Catholic values. As the middle child, I was the first kid in my family to attend public school. Starting out in high school, I learned very quickly that most of my classmates didn't have the same values as me. This came as a shock to me at first, but it taught me to form my own opinion. My opinion, for the most part, stayed the same; conservative and religious. Now living in Austin, I recently turned 18 years old so I don't have any political experience. I am excited to vote for the first time this year. I am taking this class to get a better understanding on certain political topics and to learn others' opinions. |
