Introduction The Rt. Rev. Chilton R. Knudsen has served as the Episcopal Bishop of Maine since March 1998. That summer, just a few months into her Episcopate, she and ten others were the first women bishops to attend a Lambeth Conference. Bishop Knudsen was the first woman bishop to participate in a Lambeth Eucharist. After ten years of serving the Diocese of Maine, Province 1 and the wider Church, she will retire in September. After a time of rest and travel, she will serve in the Diocese of Haiti as an Assisting Bishop.

On May 3, 2008, the Rt. Rev. Stephen T. Lane was consecrated as the Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese of Maine. Prior to his election, he served as Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of Rochester (NY). Bishop Lane's investiture as Diocesan Bishop will be held on September 13 at the Cathedral of St. Luke in Portland, Maine.
