| Introduction | Welcome to The Fly Bin, a blog for fly fishing and fly tying. Over 20 years ago I decided I wanted to undertake the task of learning to fly fish. At the time(pre-internet and social media) there weren't many people in my area I knew that fly fished. I mostly used books and magazines to learn from. Along the way I met a few life long friends who would help me greatly. As I fished with these anglers I quickly realized how little I knew. This sparked a fire in me to learn as much as I could. In fact, I still feel that I know nothing. The art of fly casting was only a portion of the frustration I would undergo while fly fishing. Hooking, catching and releasing also proved to be an art themselves. Then, along came fly tying. I had a few books to start out with and then a few tattered VHS tapes(I bet that will stump the younger readers). Now all you have to do is fire up the computer or smart phone and google what ever you want to learn. With this realization, I have decided that I want to try to extend my knowledge, what little it is, to try to help those from novice to seasoned and experienced alike. |
