| Introduction | I've been an enthusiastic investor for over 30 years and have pretty much achieved my retirement fund objective. How to deploy these funds is probably a far greater challenge than accumulating them was. When one is younger there is time to recover from poor investment decisions and market downturns. In retirement one does not have this luxury. So my intention in writing this blog is to put together in one place the research I have been undertaking on the subject of retirement income and through analyzing and writing about the issues I hope to develop a clear investment strategy to see me through the next stage in my life The challenge in defining a strategy is immense given that there are so many unknowns - longevity, health, changes in personal circumstances, market performance, inflation and the economic environment, changes in taxation, government policies .... it´s a tough task to devise a plan than can respond and adapt to such a dynamic environment but that is the task that millions of us are charged with and without doubt there can be no ¨fit all¨solution but hopefully the issues that I am addressing will help me and perhaps other similarly places soon to be retirees. |
