| Introduction | Baking, I love it! And that is why I have been doing it all my life. As a toddler, still living in The Netherlands, I would lick the batter of the spoon when my mother baked. Growing up I was spoiled by the cakes and pastries my mother and my German grandmother baked and I didn't enjoy the store bought sweets nearly as much. It wasn't long before I started doing more than just licking the spoon while my mother did the work and at the age of 11 I started baking by myself...........and I have never stopped. In all the places I lived, The Netherlands, Egypt, Iran and now Canada I baked and learned new things. After having children I had to partly relearn baking. With a three-year old son that is wheat-intolerant and a nursling that is sensitive to dairy I have had to learn to eliminate these ingredients from my baking and I started to explore the exciting worlds of vegan and wheat/gluten-free baking. Most of the recipes posted here will be either dairy- or wheat-free and many will be gluten-free and/or vegan too. |
