About me

Introduction An optimist. I'm an engineer by training, a creator-cum-planner-cum-implementer. I like to understand how and why things happen. Religion, for example, how it came into existence, and (for good or bad) why it influences (and restricts) our lives and progress today. I'm a utilitarean (our actions should promote the greatest good for the greatest number) and a disciple of Malthus - had he been alive today, his population theory would have extended well beyond food production, into resources in general - such as living space, water and air. I'm a bit of a bore, really.
Interests Family and the future, primarily. Apart from that, all those things traditionally listed in CVs and dating agencies - the theatre, art, music, books, food, science, and sport (participating more than watching, until recently). I really enjoy thinking.
Favorite Movies The Godfather, Monsieur Hulot's Holiday (the original pre-Americanised version), Those Magnificent Men, The Ipcress File, High Noon.
