| Introduction | I’m Joanna Hoyt. Since 2001, when I was 19, I’ve lived, prayed and worked with my mother and brother at St. Francis Farm, a Catholic Worker farming community in upstate NY which is currently inhabited by Quakers. In summer I spend most of my time tending gardens, goats and guests, and in winter I take more time for substantive reading and writing. I’m an unschooler and a member of the Quaker Meeting in Portland,ME. I’m trying to live as if the Truth was true, and I’ve been helped in this endeavor by the stories and examples of some friends who are much more liberal than I am and others who are much more conservative.
