| Introduction | I'm just an average schmuck, toiling away in obscurity and somewhat obsessed with the question of human continuity and that of our home world, Earth. We stand upon a threshold beyond which lies a magnificent potential for progress and prosperity sprung from rapidly evolving modern technology and human awareness, or the dark promise of extinction offered in our unrelenting allegiance to the primitive, baser instincts within the human psyche. Will we ever understand and embrace the vital connections and interdependence between all life on this planet, and act accordingly, or will we sacrifice it's incomparable magnificence on the altar of our greed and individual self-interest? We, the dominant species, will determine the course of all, and soon. So my comments here will be about the choices we all make going forward, in the hope of encouraging useful reflection and conversation. |
