Introduction	Mwalimu means teacher in Swahili. I have been in the field of education for 17+ years, teaching in urban, rural, wealthy and poor communities at all levels including university. My graduate research in Education has focused on social justice issues, such as the Native American experience, and multicultural education. I have lived in 13 different countries. I come from a family of wonderful women (sisters) and kind parents. My own family by marriage is diverse, trans-national, transracial by adoption, an interesting mix.
