| Introduction | At one time Zach was a nationally known runner and collegiate athlete. His running career took an abrupt end when he suffered a career ending injury. Zach began hiking and spending time in the outdoors to stay active and healthy. The hobby soon turned into his new passion. He took several trips before visiting Glacier National Park the summer of 2015. Originally Zach's dad was going to hike the John Muir Trail with him for colon cancer awareness. At Glacier, his dad realized he couldn't physically hike it so Zach formulated the idea for PCT with Purpose expanding the hike to include the entire PCT.
