| Introduction | The Texas Bluebonnet is written by Jackie Goff who was born in Austin, Texas to hard-working middle class parents. As one of the only two women voices in the house she had to be a lady while still being able to be heard and express herself effectively. Jackie's parents exposed her to the beauty of loving one’s self and instilled high moral and spiritual values in her. At an early age, she was exposed to the excitement of travel, and she was formally educated in The Arts. Her five older brothers exposed her to sports, sarcasm and of course: bullying. All of these experiences helped her form very strong political views. Jackie’s liberal and feminist views are a byproduct of her modest, middle class upbringing and her adult life experiences. Currently, she is the wife of a two time Iraq War Veteran and has worked as an outreach and referral specialist for service members and their families for several years. Jackie is currently taking classes at Austin Community College towards a double major in Business Management and Psychology with an anticipated graduation date of fall 2014 from Texas State University. |
