| Introduction | Greg Freestone took up fishing at the age of 7, guided by his father. He became an enthusiastic angler and continued to fish until he was 20, when he stopped to concentrate on new interests. Greg studied photography at Southend College and the University of Brighton, graduating in 1995. He worked as a freelance and after gaining a PGCE, taught Photography and Media Studies at City of Westminster College and Harlow College. Here he became course leader in Photojournalism on the NCTJ-accredited post-graduate journalism course, run in conjunction with Middlesex University. During this period Greg began fishing again and became absorbed in the pursuit of carp. He then left teaching, obtained further qualifications in journalism and worked as an editorial assistant, editor, and deputy editor respectively on: Carpworld and Crafty Carper magazines, Carp-Trade, Tackle&Guns, and the global business magazine Tackle Trade World. Greg currently lives and works in Essex where he continues to fish, photograph and write. He was an occasional contributor to Waterlog magazine and more recently, Fallon's Angler. |
