Introduction | When I was 4 my family moved from California to Maine. We lived in an old cape style farm house built in the 1800's. My mom was a stay at home mom with my 3 sisters and I while my dad flew P-3's during the day. She was constantly in motion with the cleaning, laundry and baking. Because I wanted to be with her all the time, she taught me to iron and fold clothes properly. My mom sewed special outfits for each of us and I would practice my ironing on scraps of fabric, and antique linens. I made tiny outfits for my Sylvester Cat. We lived in a safe area and where encouraged to spend as much as possible outdoors. I spent hours looking for 4 leaf clovers- which I found 11 by the time I was 9. I carried around the family's copy of The Reader's Digest of North American Wild Life and constantly studied it. I searched out lichens, mushrooms, micha, song birds and trees trying to match them to my book. When I was 5 I received my first box of watercolors and that was it. I knew I would be a painter. |
