| Introduction | I originally come from the construction industry where I was one of two directors running a loft conversion and extension company. While the company enjoyed a number of successful years, the industry suffered a downturn in business in the commercial sector which culminated in forcing many building companies into the private sector. This was already a hugely competitive market and this made it more and more difficult to win contracts. The company went into creditors voluntary liquidation in 2004 due to insurmountable debts to the HMRC. This was a very difficult time for me as a director and personally as I had some personal liabilities to the bank which were duly satisfied. This is where my interest in insolvency began. |
