| Introduction | I was born in Tampa, Florida on an island in the middle of Tampa Bay. Exotic, no? Actually, that is just where Tampa General Hospital is located but I think that maybe being born on an island (however civilized) makes one slightly off-kilter. I spent my first 7 years going from state to state as my dad was in the Navy and the next 7 in West Virginia as my brother, two sisters and I lived with my Aunt Sue and Uncle Henry (pop's brother) after my parent's divorce. Whatever sanity resides within me came from my Aunt Sue who was (and still is!) an amazing woman. All that I know about manners, language and woodlore, I learned from her. My father remarried and I lived with him and my stepmother from 14 to 17, at which time I joined the Navy. I must have liked it okay as I stayed for 20 years and retired. Along the way, I got married, had a child, got divorced, remarried (the amazing Neelie!) and became the substitute father for her 2 children. I love her dearly. And, she assures me, she loves me dearly as well! I write for the fun of it and don't expect that I will ever make a living at it. Enjoy! |

You've got to make contact with the alien leader. How will you tell when the conversation is finished?
When he bites my head off.
