| Introduction | In 1990 I was asked to take over the development of a prototype for a long range manpower planning decision support system (aka TARASH – don’t ask). I had a three day handover window with the person who came up with the concept, the statistical approach and demo user interface. He wrote it in sas V6 using IML and expected the interface to be developed in AF. The sentence that set me on my 21 year carrier was: “see that cupboard over there? It is just sas manuals. Enjoy!” I see myself as a sas heavy weight specializing in advanced analytics such as predictive modelling, data mining and time series mining. My thesis looked at the Multiplicity problem in statistical process control situations. I was mainly please with the suggestion of a graphical display and a cost aware false discovery measure (FDCR). Professionally I had the pleasure addressing interesting challenges in several industries and sectors such as military, telecommunication, insurance, services, public, and pharmaceutical.
