IntroductionTroy Johnson arrived at the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer in 1997 and served as the newspaper’s Auburn University beat writer before becoming the full-time sports columnist in 2003. In 2003, he was named the nation’s top sports columnist in the 40,000-100,000 circulation category by the Associated Press Sports Editors. He finished second in the category in 2005 and third in 2006, which he hopes is not evidence of a decline. He’s covered a little of everything over the years, including the Super Bowl, the Masters, the NCAA Final Four, the 1996 Olympics and the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where he found the taste of kangaroo steak to be surprisingly pleasant. He can’t say the same for vegemite, however.
InterestsCooking, traveling, playing sports, weight lifting, reading, spending quality time with my wife and writing thought-provoking newspaper columns.
Favorite moviesWe'll stick with sports movies for this blog: I've seen ''The Natural'' at least 987 times, followed closely by ''Bull Durham'' and ''Hoosiers.'' And ''Deliverance'' has to be the best and worst white-water rafting movie ever made.
Favorite musicLoud, angry punk and rock music that ruptures the ear drums -- Dropkick Murphys, Rancid, Social Distortion to name a few. I like Jack Johnson when I'm chilling and MuteMath when I'm in between. Also a fan of old-school style hip-hop, primarily Jurassic 5 and A Tribe Called Qwest.
Favorite books''A Man in Full'' and ''I Am Charlotte Simmons'' by Tom Wolfe, ''In Cold Blood'' by Truman Capote and anything by humorist and travel writer Bill Bryson.
