| Introduction | Why I AM NOT MOM...Ever since my boys were diagnosed with autism, I have defined myself as an autism mom. My days have been filled with advocacy, planning, research, networking and other activities involving autism and special needs issues. Over the past several years, I have almost completely lost myself to autism, to mothering my boys and my now teenage daughter. I need to find myself again. This blog is a response, a warning, and hopefully a beacon to those others who are lost and need to find themselves again, to realize they are more than their child's disablity AND will be more whole and happy people if they can recognize that and regain their sense of self. At least, that is what I hope to do. |
