IntroductionI am a licensed clinical social worker with 26 years of experience working with children, teens, and young adults. I am also an adjunct professor at USC in the School of Social Work where I teach assessment and theories of human behavior. I specialize in cognitive-behavioral therapy and facilitate therapy groups for children and teens with internet and gaming addiction. Over my career I have developed extensive experience working with families facing the unique psychological and social problems created by compulsive internet and video game use. Multiple research studies across the globe have confirmed that youth (and adults) are displaying behaviors consistent with addiction to the internet, video gaming, and smart phones (texting). As a result, children and teens are experiencing significant mental and physical health problems related to "tech" addiction. This blog raises awareness of the consequences of internet and video gaming addiction and offers practical, effective and lasting solutions.Therapy programs are offered to families in Los Angeles or via Skype for families outside of the Los Angeles area.
