About me

Location Memphis, TN, United States
Introduction In the early days of Memphis, the Pinch District was the residential neighborhood for Irish immigrants and Jewish merchants. The district was referred to as "Pinchgut" after the malnourished appearance of the Irish railway workers. For much of the twentieth century the Pinch District was rundown and neglected, but with the recent revitalization of downtown Memphis, the Pinch District has become a historical landmark and cultural hub. The name The Pinch references our city's first community, and it reflects the heart of our city's history and our creative approach. It commemorates our commitment to publish diverse voices that speak from the periphery as well as the center of contemporary written and artistic expression.
