| Introduction | Dr. Wafeeq Sabir is a recognized scholar practitioner and a retired police officer of 25 years from the Fort Worth Police Department. He is a published author, serves as a religious diversity facilitator for the Department of Justice, and a former gang expert witness for the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. Dr. Sabir has served on several committees and boards regarding juvenile justice reform, gang intervention, cultural diversity, and Islamic administration. Dr. Sabir has been interviewed on numerous radio, television, and online programs, including Trinity Broadcasting Network, Nickelodeon, and ESPN. He is a long standing supporter of the Boys and Girls Clubs, Women’s Safe Haven, Tarrant County Safe City Commission, and Meals on Wheels. Dr. Sabir is a regular speaker at regional and national criminal justice conferences. He is the past-President of the Fort Worth Chapter of the National Black Police Association and is an adjunct sociology professor at Tarrant County College and an Associate Faculty member with the University of Phoenix. He holds a Master of Arts in Psychology/Sociology and a PhD in Criminal Justice from Capella University. |
