| Introduction | I have worked in journalism and advocacy since 1978. I took part in the Northwest ancient forest movement from its early days in the mid-1980s and was a pioneer in the Green City/Urban Sustainability movement, jumping in during the late 1980s and early 1990s. In 1994 I was editor of Cascadia Planet, one of the first 11,000 websites on Earth, and one of the very first bioregional sites. From 1998-2013 I worked for a climate group I helped co-found called Climate Solutions. I also co-authored "Stormy Weather: 101 Solutions to Global Climate Change," with Guy Dauncey. Now I work independently to forward solutions to climate change and global sustainability through my practice, MROC. | Interests | Music - I sing in a Portland punk band with lineage to the day, and play bass. History - I'm an avid reader of several kinds of history including US, modern, global and environmental. Walking - I love to do what bipedal hominids do best, walk. And my Lake Union neighborhood in Seattle is a tremendously beautiful and varied place to do it. |

| Favorite music | The Clash and Dead Kennedys are my traditional touchstones. I like a broad array of rock from Led Zeppelin, Hendrix and Doors to Nirvana, Bad Religion and Motorhead. Greg Sage and The Wipers are forever iconic to the Portland punk scene - Cobain called Greg the "Godfather of Grunge," rightfully so. |
